The Rochester Rhinos have been the class of the A-League over the past few seasons. Highlights include a 1998 A-League championship, and Regular Season title, a 1996 US Open Cup Finals Appearence, and a 1996 A-League Finals appearence. The 1999 season has included victories over the MLS Chicago Fire, and Dallas Burn.
At the gate, the Rhinos have easily received the best crowds in the league, averaging well over 11,000 people to Frontier Field over their history (drawing 98% capacity in the 1998 season). The Rhinos are outdrawing some MLS teams despite having similar ticket prices, and playing in a smaller, baseball facility. Now is the time to support a new rectangular facility. The Rhinos management is willing to put up $25-$27 million for the complex, as they are showing their dedication. Lets support having the state government fit the additional $13-1$5 million for the complex (instead of being the "good guy" again and letting another city take the funds the state puts aside for these types of projects).
This will open the door for moving up to the US's division 1 league, Major League Soccer. Another stadium will benefit the businesses that surround it, and it will allow for additional events. Such as a Womens Pro League Soccer team, Football, Rugby, the drum and bugle core competition, among others. A city our size NEEDS a decent sized rectangular facility.
So write the local congressmen and visit Rhinossoccer.com to show you're support!
